The School of International Education and the Center of International Exchanges (Office of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs) at Lanzhou Jiaotong University is the functional department and agency responsible for the university’s foreign affairs. It has six administrative offices: General Affairs and Introducing Intelligence Service Office, International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service Office, Outbound Students and Cooperation Programs Management Section, International Students Admission Office, International Students Affairs Office, and International Chinese Promotion Office.
The School has the following main responsibilities:
1. Establishing new development goals to enhance the international education standards of the university. This includes formulating rules and regulations for the university's foreign affairs, coordinating the planning and execution of foreign affairs activities, and arranging exchanges and collaborations with Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
2. Responsible for contacting and cooperating with overseas universities, educational institutions, and relevant departments. This includes drafting and implementing cooperation agreements, developing and executing international education exchange programs for students, and applying for and managing Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions and projects.
3. The formulation, approval, and procedures for the university's official business abroad plan, as well as the application and organization of international conferences.
4. Oversee the recruitment and service of international students in China, coordinate teaching and training for international students, and support their employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in China.
5. Responsible for the collaborative establishment of Confucius Institutes, selection of international Chinese volunteers, and other initiatives related to promoting the Chinese language internationally; in charge of overseeing the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) and the test for the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
6. The school is also in charge of the introduction, recruitment, and service of foreign experts.
